We are seeking a results-driven and experienced Senior Fabrication Shop Supervisor to lead and manage the full spectrum of fabrication shop operations. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep hands-on expertise in metal fabrication, team leadership, process optimization, and inter-departmental coordination. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient workflow, maintain quality and safety standards, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume production environment.
Oversee daily fabrication operations including cutting, bending, rolling, forming, welding, and structural assembly.
Supervise a team of fabricators, welders, machine operators, and junior supervisors across multiple shifts.
Drive productivity while ensuring product quality, on-time delivery, and workforce discipline.
Collaborate with planning, design, CNC, machining, and quality teams to align fabrication schedules with project requirements.
Monitor WIP (Work-In-Progress) and ensure availability of materials, consumables, and resources.
Prioritize tasks based on production deadlines and capacity utilization.
Review complex fabrication drawings and ensure fabrication is done per standards, GD&T, and welding symbols.
Solve shop floor challenges including warpage, fit-up issues, distortion control, and fixture requirements.
Implement lean manufacturing practices (5S, kaizen, SMED, etc.) to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Ensure all fabricated components meet internal and customer quality specifications.
Supervise in-process and final inspections and coordinate with the QA team for audits and NCR resolution.
Ensure proper documentation of quality records and job traceability.
Drive a culture of safety on the shop floor, ensuring full compliance with workplace safety norms and PPE usage.
Conduct regular safety briefings and incident investigations.
Enforce standard operating procedures and regulatory compliance (ISO/OSHA/ASME).
Coach, mentor, and develop fabrication team leaders, operators, and welders to build a high-performance team.
Evaluate team performance and provide regular feedback and training programs.
Support manpower planning and shift scheduling for optimal shop coverage.
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Production / Fabrication Engineering.
8–12 years of hands-on fabrication experience, with at least 4+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of fabrication processes, welding techniques, and shop floor machinery.
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, GD&T, and welding standards.
Experience working with ERP systems, production trackers, and quality tools.
Exposure to ISO 9001, ASME, or industry-specific quality systems.
