We are looking for a skilled and responsible Fabrication Shop Supervisor (Mid-Level) to oversee and coordinate day-to-day operations in a metal fabrication environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in managing fabrication processes such as cutting, bending, forming, welding, and assembly of metal parts. This role requires hands-on leadership to ensure productivity, quality, safety, and workflow efficiency across fabrication teams and equipment.
Supervise fabrication operations including sheet metal work, structural steel, pipework, and weldments.
Allocate jobs to fabricators, welders, and helpers based on skills and production schedules.
Monitor work progress and ensure adherence to production targets and quality standards.
Review fabrication drawings and work instructions to ensure proper job execution.
Supervise machine setup and safe operation of press brakes, shears, rollers, and cutting tools.
Coordinate with design and CNC teams to clarify part geometry, tolerances, or material concerns.
Oversee in-process and final inspections of fabricated parts to ensure dimensional and weld quality.
Ensure compliance with weld symbols, tolerances, and customer specifications.
Report non-conformances and implement corrective/preventive actions with the QA team.
Manage raw material usage, cutting plans, and reduce rework or waste.
Maintain job progress reports and support production planning for timely deliveries.
Coordinate inter-departmental handoffs (e.g., to CNC machining, painting, or assembly).
Enforce safety standards, PPE usage, and ensure adherence to operating procedures.
Identify safety hazards and conduct toolbox talks or basic safety training.
Mentor junior supervisors and skilled workers; support skill development initiatives.
Monitor the condition of fabrication tools, machines, and jigs; coordinate routine maintenance.
Report malfunctions or downtime and work with maintenance teams for resolution.
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Fabrication/Production Engineering or related field.
4–7 years of fabrication experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of fabrication processes including sheet metal forming, welding, structural fitting.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T.
Familiarity with ISO/ASME standards and basic quality systems.
Proficient in using basic shop-floor software or production tracking tools.
