We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Junior Fabrication Shop Supervisor to assist in overseeing daily operations in a fabrication shop focused on sheet metal, structural, or welded assemblies. This role involves supervising a small team of fabricators, ensuring job execution per work orders, supporting quality and safety compliance, and maintaining workflow continuity. Ideal for candidates with technical shop floor experience looking to grow into a leadership role.
Monitor daily fabrication activities including cutting, bending, welding, and assembly tasks.
Assign tasks to fabricators based on priority and skill level under the direction of senior supervision.
Ensure materials, tools, and drawings are available for each job.
Ensure fabrication tasks are completed as per engineering drawings and quality standards.
Conduct basic dimensional and visual checks; escalate non-conformances.
Verify that weld symbols and cut tolerances are followed accurately.
Promote and enforce safety procedures on the shop floor (PPE use, safe lifting, machine guarding).
Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
Report incidents and support basic safety training sessions.
Liaise with planning, CNC, and welding teams to ensure smooth workflow and job readiness.
Provide status updates on job progress, material shortages, or bottlenecks.
Maintain basic production records, checklists, and shift logs.
Support training of junior fabricators or helpers in shop practices and machine use.
Learn and assist in machine setup (shears, press brakes, rollers) as required.
Attend internal training sessions for growth in supervision, quality, or lean methods.
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Fabrication, or Production Engineering.
1–3 years of experience in a fabrication shop environment.
Basic understanding of fabrication processes (cutting, bending, welding, grinding).
Ability to read mechanical/fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
Good communication and leadership potential.
Familiarity with safety and basic shop management practices.
