Fabrication QA/QC Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-driven Senior Fabrication QA/QC Supervisor to lead all quality assurance and control activities within our fabrication division. The role focuses on ensuring strict compliance with fabrication standards, leading inspection teams, driving quality improvements, and interfacing with cross-functional departments and clients. This is a leadership role responsible for maintaining product integrity and promoting a culture of quality excellence across complex fabrication operations.

Key Focus Areas:

1. Strategic Quality Leadership

• • Lead QA/QC teams across shifts and projects to maintain product quality and compliance.

  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and customer teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.

2. Advanced Inspection Oversight

• • Supervise critical inspections involving welding, structural fabrication, sheet metal, and mechanical assemblies.

  • Review and approve inspection documentation, weld maps, and test reports.

3. Standards & Compliance Enforcement

• • Ensure fabrication activities comply with industry standards (AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, ISO 9001, etc.).

  • Maintain compliance with customer-specific and regulatory requirements.

4. Non-Conformance & Root Cause Analysis

• • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (NCR, CAPA).

  • Facilitate quality investigations and process audits across the fabrication floor.

5. Team Development & Performance

• • Mentor and develop junior inspectors and mid-level QA supervisors.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and oversee training programs for quality personnel.

6. Quality System Management

• • Contribute to internal audits, quality metrics reporting, and management reviews.

  • Maintain and improve quality control procedures, work instructions, and inspection protocols.

Core Responsibilities:

• • Lead daily QA/QC operations and coordinate inspection activities for multiple fabrication lines or projects.

  • Review engineering drawings, customer specs, and fabrication plans for quality requirements.

  • Interface with clients, auditors, and third-party inspectors during product reviews or certification processes.

  • Supervise weld qualification tests and ensure WPS and PQR documentation is accurate and up to date.

  • Analyze quality performance indicators and initiate quality improvement projects.

  • Maintain traceability and documentation of raw materials, welders' certifications, and inspection records.

Required Qualifications:

• • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or Fabrication Engineering.

  • 8–10+ years of experience in fabrication QA/QC, including 3–5 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.

  • Strong understanding of fabrication and welding standards: AWS, ASME, ISO, and customer-specific codes.

  • Proven experience in handling complex inspections and resolving high-impact quality issues.

  • Proficiency with inspection tools, NDT processes (VT, PT, UT, etc.), and documentation management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification.

  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, defense, oil & gas, construction steel, or medical fabrication).

  • ERP and QMS software proficiency (e.g., SAP, Plex, Oracle, ISO audit systems).

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt is a plus.
