We are seeking a proactive and experienced Fabrication Foreman / Shop Foreman – Mid-Level to oversee daily fabrication shop operations. The ideal candidate will supervise a team of welders, fitters, and helpers, ensuring all fabrication work is executed to specification, on schedule, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. This role demands strong technical knowledge, effective leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple fabrication activities simultaneously.
Lead and manage day-to-day activities of the fabrication shop including structural, piping, and pressure part fabrication.
Distribute tasks to welders, fitters, and technicians based on job priorities and manpower availability.
Monitor workflow and ensure production targets and deadlines are met.
Review fabrication drawings and verify dimensional accuracy and fit-up.
Provide guidance on welding procedures, pipe fitting methods, and fabrication techniques.
Ensure the proper use and maintenance of tools, machines, and welding equipment.
Conduct in-process inspections and ensure work meets project specifications and standards (e.g., ASME, API, AWS).
Collaborate with QA/QC personnel during fit-up and weld inspections.
Identify defects or non-conformances and take corrective actions.
Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in the workshop.
Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Ensure compliance with PPE usage, safe lifting practices, and fire protection protocols.
Interface with planning, material control, and engineering departments for job planning and material requirements.
Prepare and submit daily progress reports and timesheets.
Communicate effectively with team members and higher management.
Supervising fabrication teams and workflow
Ensuring quality compliance and safe shop practices
Interpreting technical drawings and overseeing fabrication accuracy
Managing shop floor productivity and resource planning
Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, or Welding Technology
Additional certifications in welding inspection or fabrication (CSWIP, AWS, etc.) are advantageous
5–8 years of fabrication shop experience with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role
Proven track record of managing structural, piping, and pressure part fabrication projects
Experience with various fabrication standards and procedures (e.g., ASME VIII, API 650)
Strong leadership and communication skills
Proficient in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings and isometrics
Good knowledge of welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, FCAW), material grades, and codes
Ability to manage team productivity and resolve shop floor challenges
