We are looking for a highly experienced and technically strong Senior Fabrication Design Engineer to lead the development and execution of digital fabrication workflows using CAD, CAM, and CAE tools. This role requires deep expertise in mechanical design, manufacturing strategies, simulation, and team leadership. You will guide the full lifecycle of fabrication-focused design projects—from concept through tooling, prototyping, and production—within collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams.
Lead the development of complex, multi-component mechanical assemblies using platforms such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, or Rhino.
Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA), ensuring parts are optimized for CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and hybrid workflows.
Architect efficient and reliable CAM workflows using Fusion 360 CAM, Mastercam, or equivalent.
Oversee toolpath generation for 3- to 5-axis CNC machines and robotic fabrication systems, optimizing for cycle time, surface finish, and material efficiency.
Perform advanced simulations including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), thermal stress, motion dynamics, and vibration analysis.
Use simulation data to drive design decisions and iterate toward structurally sound, high-performance products.
Collaborate with automation teams to develop robot-compatible toolpaths, custom end-effectors, and fabrication sequences.
Lead the integration of parametric design tools (e.g., Grasshopper, Dynamo) into CAD/CAM pipelines for mass customization and design automation.
Provide technical direction, peer reviews, and process improvement across the CAD/CAM/CAE engineering group.
Mentor junior engineers and standardize best practices in documentation, modeling, and manufacturing readiness.
Lead end-to-end design projects including scoping, resourcing, timeline definition, and execution.
Coordinate with teams across mechanical, controls, automation, production, and procurement to ensure deliverables meet technical and operational goals.
Drive the design and digital fabrication of precision components and assemblies used in automation systems, robotic cells, or advanced structures.
Lead design reviews, simulation validation processes, and continuous optimization based on feedback from the shop floor and testing.
Own the design-release process including BOM generation, GD&T documentation, and version control.
Develop and maintain fabrication standards, internal design guides, and reusable libraries.
Contribute to strategic R&D efforts exploring new fabrication techniques, materials, and design methodologies.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design, or a closely related field.
6+ years of experience in fabrication-focused CAD/CAM/CAE roles, with a proven track record of leading complex mechanical design projects.
Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD software and 2D technical drawing generation.
Strong CAM skills including multi-axis toolpathing, post-processing, and manufacturing simulation.
Experience with FEA and motion analysis tools (e.g., Ansys, SolidWorks Simulation, Fusion Simulation).
Deep understanding of materials, tolerancing, precision manufacturing, and design validation.
Experience in robotic fabrication, 5-axis machining, or large-scale structural fabrication.
Expertise in generative design, parametric modeling, or design automation workflows.
Familiarity with GD&T, ISO/ASME standards, and product development under regulatory or quality frameworks.
Prior leadership experience in a cross-functional engineering team or digital fabrication lab.
