The FAT/SAT Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution, and troubleshooting of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for advanced packaging and filling machinery. This mid-level position requires a solid understanding of mechanical systems, automation basics, and the ability to lead on-site commissioning with minimal supervision.
Lead and execute FAT activities at the factory in coordination with internal teams and customer representatives.
Oversee SAT and commissioning of packaging and filling machinery at customer sites, ensuring installation and performance meet technical specifications.
Collaborate with design, automation, and QA/QC teams to align on machine readiness and issue resolution.
Perform mechanical and functional testing, identify deviations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Document FAT/SAT results including reports, punch lists, and validation records.
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians during testing and commissioning phases.
Train customer operators and maintenance personnel on machine operation and best practices.
Ensure all work is carried out with compliance to safety, GMP, and quality standards.
Packaging & Filling Machinery Expertise
In-depth knowledge of filling technologies (e.g., gravity, piston, vacuum, volumetric).
Experience with related packaging equipment: cappers, labelers, conveyors, shrink wrappers, etc.
FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing)
Execution of pre-shipment testing with simulated conditions.
Verification of mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, and operational compliance.
SAT (Site Acceptance Testing)
Supervision of machine installation and alignment.
Full system start-up, dry and wet runs, performance verification, and site acceptance sign-off.
Mechanical & Automation Interface
Ability to work with basic PLC/HMI logic for machine operation and troubleshooting.
Coordinate with automation teams on IO checks and system integration.
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare test protocols, checklists, deviation reports, and validation records (IQ/OQ/PQ).
Maintain logs of changes, lessons learned, and improvement suggestions.
Customer Handling & Training
Act as a technical representative during customer interactions.
Conduct hands-on training sessions on machine operations and preventive maintenance.
Continuous Improvement
Provide feedback on design for serviceability, installation efficiency, and performance reliability.
Education: Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering.
Experience: 3–6 years in FAT/SAT or commissioning of packaging/filling machines.
Technical Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Basic understanding of automation (PLC, HMI).
Able to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical and electrical schematics.
Soft Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Customer-focused with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Willingness to Travel: 50–70%, depending on project location.
