The Executive Director – Climate Control Engineering is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the development and execution of climate control systems across all vehicle platforms. This role provides strategic direction and operational management to engineering teams focused on HVAC, thermal management, and related climate technologies. The Executive Director ensures the delivery of innovative, efficient, and reliable climate solutions that enhance occupant comfort, vehicle performance, and regulatory compliance. Collaboration with product development, manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams is critical to achieving business objectives and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and implement the strategic vision for climate control engineering, including HVAC and thermal management systems, across all vehicle programs.
Lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams in engineering, validation, and product support to deliver high-quality climate control solutions.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement in system design, energy efficiency, refrigerant technologies, and integration with vehicle systems.
Oversee program planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Collaborate closely with powertrain, battery, vehicle integration, manufacturing, and quality teams to optimize climate system performance and packaging.
Manage supplier relationships and technology partnerships to incorporate advanced components and maintain competitive advantage.
Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and industry standards, including refrigerant regulations and emissions requirements.
Mentor and develop senior engineering leaders, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
Represent the climate control engineering function in executive leadership meetings, customer forums, and industry events.
Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to guide strategic planning and innovation.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field required
Advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, or PhD) preferred
Experience:
15+ years in automotive climate control or thermal management engineering leadership roles
Proven success in leading large, complex engineering organizations and delivering vehicle programs
Experience managing multi-site teams and cross-functional projects
Technical Skills:
Deep expertise in HVAC systems, thermal management, refrigerant technologies, and system integration
Strong knowledge of automotive packaging, manufacturing processes, and regulatory environment
Familiarity with energy efficiency and sustainability standards
