The Mid-Level Estimation and BOQ Technician is responsible for preparing accurate quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for construction and engineering projects. The role involves working closely with design, procurement, and project teams to ensure that cost and material estimates align with project scope and specifications.
Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to perform quantity take-offs.
Prepare detailed BOQs in accordance with project scope and applicable standards (CESMM, POMI, NRM, etc.).
Assist in the preparation of project cost estimates, rate analysis, and pricing sheets.
Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing for materials and services.
Support the Estimation Engineer or Quantity Surveyor in tender submissions and cost evaluations.
Track and update unit costs and maintain cost databases.
Participate in site visits or assessments to verify quantities and site conditions.
Assist in value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Cross-check estimates with actual project costs for accuracy and improvement.
Maintain organized documentation and records for audits and reference.
Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
3–5 years of relevant experience in quantity take-off and estimation in construction or fit-out projects.
Proficient in MS Excel and AutoCAD; knowledge of estimation tools such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or CCS is an advantage.
Strong understanding of construction methods, material specifications, and unit cost structures.
Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and support multiple bids.
Familiarity with FIDIC contract terms or local contract practices.
Experience in preparing BOQs for infrastructure, building, or MEP projects.
Exposure to pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying functions is a plus.
