The Junior Estimation and BOQ Technician assists in preparing cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for construction or engineering projects. Working under the supervision of senior estimators or quantity surveyors, the technician helps gather data, perform basic calculations, and ensure accurate documentation of materials and quantities.
Assist in preparing preliminary cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
Support in quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and site measurements.
Help prepare BOQs in accordance with project scope and standard formats.
Organize and maintain estimation files, records, and data sheets.
Coordinate with engineering teams to clarify drawings and materials required.
Assist in preparing tender documentation and cost breakdowns.
Support the comparison of supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Ensure all measurements and calculations are accurate and verified.
Update historical cost databases with material and labor prices.
Diploma or certificate in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Technology.
0–2 years of experience in estimation, drafting, or quantity surveying roles.
Basic understanding of construction drawings, measurements, and cost elements.
Proficient in MS Excel; knowledge of AutoCAD or estimation software is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Willingness to learn and grow in a project-based, technical environment.
Familiarity with BOQ standards such as CESMM, POMI, or NRM is an advantage.
Exposure to construction or fit-out projects through internship or prior work.
