Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Estimation and BD Engineer – Fabrication (Senior Level) leads the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for complex fabrication projects. This role manages client relationships, oversees the bid process, and plays a key role in securing high-value fabrication contracts across oil & gas, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the analysis of tender documents, specifications, and fabrication drawings for accurate cost estimation.

  • Develop detailed cost breakdowns covering materials, labor, equipment, subcontracting, logistics, QA/QC, and overheads.

  • Prepare and present high-quality technical and commercial proposals for pressure vessels, skids, structural steel, piping, and custom-fabricated components.

  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and production teams to align bids with technical feasibility and production capacity.

  • Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors for competitive pricing and delivery commitments.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients, consultants, and contractors to generate business opportunities and repeat orders.

  • Represent the company in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and clarification discussions.

  • Support strategic pricing decisions, contract reviews, and risk assessments with senior management.

  • Track market trends, competitor bids, and client procurement cycles to improve bid positioning and hit rate.

  • Mentor junior estimators and contribute to continuous improvement of estimation systems and databases.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent; PMP or MBA is a plus.

  • 7–10 years of experience in estimation and business development for fabrication projects in oil & gas, industrial construction, or manufacturing.

  • Advanced knowledge of fabrication techniques (welding, machining, forming, NDT, painting, and assembly).

  • Expertise in interpreting detailed fabrication drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and specifications.

  • Strong command of MS Excel, AutoCAD, and estimation tools; ERP system familiarity is advantageous.


Preferred Attributes:

  • Proven track record of winning large-scale fabrication contracts.

  • Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation skills, and client handling experience.

  • Ability to manage multiple tenders, lead cross-functional teams, and work under tight deadlines.

  • Deep understanding of international codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API, ISO, etc.).
