Job Summary:

The Estimation and Business Development Engineer – Fabrication (Mid-Level) is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and supporting the acquisition of fabrication projects, including structural steel, pressure vessels, piping spools, skids, and tanks. The role involves bid preparation, pricing strategy development, technical evaluation, and client coordination.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze RFQs, fabrication drawings, and specifications to develop comprehensive cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted services.

  • Prepare technical and commercial proposals for steel fabrication jobs in accordance with client and project requirements.

  • Liaise with design, procurement, production, and QA/QC teams to ensure accurate estimation inputs.

  • Evaluate subcontractor/vendor quotations and include relevant costs in the final bid.

  • Track and manage ongoing bids, submit clarifications, and follow up on proposal status with clients.

  • Support BD activities by building relationships with consultants, contractors, and end-users.

  • Maintain historical project data and update pricing tools to enhance estimation accuracy.

  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site surveys, and customer briefings to ensure full technical understanding and project alignment.

  • Contribute to revenue forecasting, bid-win ratio analysis, and business growth planning.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

  • 3–5 years of experience in fabrication estimation, costing, or business development in steel, oil & gas, or manufacturing sectors.

  • Solid understanding of fabrication processes (cutting, welding, forming, NDT, coating, assembly).

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, material take-offs, and technical specifications.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD; ERP experience is a plus.

  • Good understanding of market pricing, sourcing, and vendor evaluation.

  • Client-facing communication skills and ability to support sales negotiations.

  • Ability to manage multiple tenders under tight deadlines.
