The Estimation and Business Development Engineer – Fabrication (Junior Level) supports the preparation of cost estimates and assists with developing new business opportunities in the metal fabrication sector. The role involves quantity take-offs, costing, and proposal preparation for fabrication projects including piping, structural steel, tanks, and skids.
Assist in reviewing client inquiries, technical drawings, and material specifications to understand project scope.
Perform basic quantity take-offs and material requirement calculations using fabrication drawings.
Help prepare cost estimates, including materials, labor, machining, welding, painting, and subcontracted services.
Support proposal and tender documentation preparation in coordination with senior estimators and the sales team.
Coordinate with procurement to get updated material prices and vendor quotes.
Maintain estimation databases and records of historical costs for future reference.
Participate in client meetings and site visits to gather technical inputs and understand project requirements.
Assist the business development team in market research, lead generation, and client database updates.
Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
0–2 years of experience in estimation, costing, or business development within a fabrication or manufacturing setup (internship acceptable).
Basic knowledge of fabrication processes: cutting, welding, bending, painting, and assembling.
Familiarity with reading fabrication drawings and interpreting BOQs.
Proficient in MS Excel, Word; AutoCAD knowledge is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail and numeric accuracy.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Eagerness to learn industrial estimation and tendering processes.
Willingness to occasionally visit project sites or fabrication yards for data collection.
