The Junior Environmental Systems Supervisor supports the monitoring, maintenance, and supervision of systems responsible for maintaining optimal indoor environmental quality—including humidity control, air purification, and filtration systems. Working under the guidance of senior staff, this role ensures that building environments meet regulatory and comfort standards. The role involves hands-on technical work, data monitoring, and assisting with small projects related to IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) performance improvements.
Assist in the daily supervision and monitoring of humidity control, ventilation, and air filtration systems in the facility.
Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on air handling units (AHUs), humidifiers, dehumidifiers, HEPA filters, and UV disinfection equipment.
Support the implementation of indoor air quality (IAQ) testing and tracking programs, including particle count and CO₂ level monitoring.
Coordinate with HVAC and building automation technicians to ensure systems align with IAQ performance metrics.
Log operational data and help identify trends or abnormalities in system performance.
Respond to occupant complaints related to air quality or humidity and assist in implementing corrective actions.
Maintain records of equipment service history, filter replacement schedules, and system testing.
Assist in compliance activities with OSHA, ASHRAE, and environmental health and safety standards.
Support procurement and inventory of IAQ-related consumables such as filters and humidification media.
Participate in training on system updates, environmental compliance, and air quality technologies.
Humidity Control Management
Assist in monitoring and maintaining relative humidity levels within building zones as per standards.
Air Quality Monitoring & Support
Support basic testing, data logging, and issue identification related to IAQ, including VOCs, CO₂, and particulate levels.
Filtration Systems Oversight
Help maintain and replace filters (HEPA, MERV-rated) and monitor performance for air handling systems.
Preventive Maintenance & Inspections
Conduct routine inspections of environmental control equipment and report potential issues.
Regulatory Compliance Assistance
Support activities to meet ASHRAE 62.1/62.2, OSHA guidelines, and internal facility environmental standards.
Diploma or Associate’s Degree in HVAC, Environmental Technology, Mechanical Systems, or related field.
0–2 years of experience in environmental systems, HVAC maintenance, or IAQ operations preferred.
Basic understanding of HVAC principles, filtration technologies, and humidity control equipment.
Familiarity with ASHRAE indoor air quality standards is a plus.
Ability to read simple system diagrams and perform hands-on equipment checks.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to system monitoring.
Good communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment.
