The Engineering Manager – Marine HVAC Systems Design and Implementation is responsible for managing the full engineering lifecycle of HVAC systems across marine vessels—from conceptual design to final commissioning. The role oversees multi-disciplinary design efforts, ensures compliance with maritime regulations, and ensures HVAC systems are delivered on time, within scope, and to quality standards for naval, commercial, or offshore vessels.
Lead and coordinate the design, development, and technical implementation of HVAC systems for marine applications, including newbuilds and retrofits.
Supervise teams of engineers and designers producing HVAC layouts, load calculations, ducting schematics, and equipment selection.
Review and approve detailed engineering documents, including specifications, control strategies, airflow analysis, and installation drawings.
Manage project schedules and ensure engineering milestones align with shipyard, procurement, and commissioning timelines.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant marine regulations: IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, ASHRAE, and classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s).
Oversee integration of HVAC systems with shipboard electrical, automation, and structural systems.
Conduct design reviews, risk assessments (FMEA), and interface control discussions with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with procurement, project management, and construction teams to resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning.
Support factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), technical troubleshooting, and field engineering adjustments.
Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and technical standards across the engineering team.
Mentor and develop engineering staff, supporting knowledge transfer and competency development.
