We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Energy Efficiency Engineer to support energy optimization initiatives focused on HVAC systems within a power plant environment. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with foundational engineering knowledge who are passionate about improving thermal system performance, reducing energy consumption, and supporting sustainability goals.
Assist in monitoring energy consumption of HVAC systems (chillers, air handling units, pumps, fans, etc.) across the plant.
Collect and analyze data related to air distribution, thermal loads, and system performance.
Support baseline assessments and benchmarking activities.
Identify areas of energy inefficiency and assist in implementing improvement measures (e.g., VFD installation, setpoint tuning, scheduling).
Participate in walkthroughs and equipment audits to evaluate HVAC equipment health and operational effectiveness.
Assist in developing low-cost/no-cost energy-saving recommendations.
Help in tracking post-implementation energy savings through M&V plans.
Support use of data loggers, flow meters, and power analyzers for field data collection.
Assist in preparing energy reports and dashboards.
Maintain logs of HVAC energy usage and prepare technical documentation for audits.
Support adherence to ASHRAE standards, ISO 50001, and internal energy management policies.
Update drawings, schematics, and records reflecting HVAC system modifications.
Participate in training programs on HVAC energy optimization, thermal systems, and green building standards.
Work under guidance of senior engineers to learn HVAC load analysis, psychrometrics, and heat recovery techniques.
Assist in energy audits and HVAC system assessments
Support small-scale optimization projects
Participate in measurement and verification tasks
Develop technical documentation and reports
Gain hands-on experience in HVAC energy analysis
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or HVAC Technology
Certifications (Preferred or Willing to Obtain):
Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), LEED Green Associate, or similar credentials
Experience:
0–2 years of experience in energy efficiency or HVAC maintenance/operation
Familiarity with HVAC components and basic energy performance principles
Skills:
Basic understanding of HVAC systems and thermodynamics
Proficient in MS Excel and basic energy modeling tools
Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
Good communication and teamwork abilities
