Job Title: Electromechanical Technician

Job Summary:

The Senior Electromechanical Technician is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex electromechanical systems and equipment, with an emphasis on ensuring the highest standards of performance, safety, and efficiency. This role involves leading and mentoring a team of technicians, managing critical system repairs, overseeing complex installations, and collaborating with engineering teams to optimize electromechanical systems. The Senior Electromechanical Technician is a key technical leader in the organization, ensuring that all equipment is operating optimally and that maintenance procedures are aligned with company and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Supervision:

    • Lead and manage a team of electromechanical technicians, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and support to ensure high-quality installations and system performance.
    • Assign and supervise work for junior and mid-level technicians, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and foster continuous professional development within the team.
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure that systems are optimized and meet operational goals.
  2. Installation and System Integration:

    • Oversee the installation and integration of electromechanical systems, including motors, actuators, sensors, PLCs, and control panels, ensuring that all components function cohesively.
    • Manage large-scale, complex installations that require coordination of both electrical and mechanical systems.
    • Review and approve system designs, installation plans, and technical documentation, ensuring that they meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  3. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex electromechanical systems, diagnosing electrical and mechanical failures and implementing corrective actions.
    • Oversee the preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure maximum uptime of critical systems and equipment.
    • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify, resolve, and prevent recurring technical issues.
    • Ensure all repairs are performed according to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.
  4. System Optimization and Performance:

    • Analyze system performance, recommend optimization strategies, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and extend the life of equipment.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize electromechanical designs, integrating new technologies and improving overall system reliability and performance.
    • Lead the implementation of system upgrades, calibrations, and performance enhancements.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Ensure that accurate records of installations, repairs, calibrations, and system modifications are maintained in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
    • Prepare detailed reports on system performance, maintenance activities, testing results, and repairs for senior management and clients.
    • Ensure that all documentation is properly stored, organized, and accessible for future reference or audits.
  6. Regulatory Compliance and Safety:

    • Ensure that all electromechanical systems and maintenance activities comply with industry safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, IEC, NEC).
    • Conduct safety audits and inspections on systems, equipment, and workspaces to identify hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.
    • Implement and enforce safety practices across the team, ensuring safe work environments for all technicians.
    • Stay up to date on the latest regulations, industry standards, and technological advancements related to electromechanical systems.
  7. Client and Stakeholder Interaction:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients regarding technical issues, maintenance schedules, and system performance.
    • Provide expert-level technical support and advice to clients, ensuring that electromechanical systems meet their operational needs and quality expectations.
    • Manage client expectations, deliver technical solutions, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
    • Participate in meetings with senior management and clients to discuss system improvements, troubleshooting results, and future technical requirements.
  8. Project Management and Coordination:

    • Manage and coordinate multiple electromechanical projects simultaneously, ensuring that tasks are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Work closely with project managers to ensure project goals and technical requirements are met.
    • Ensure that all materials, tools, and equipment are available for technicians to complete tasks efficiently and within deadlines.
  9. Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for efficiency and quality improvements in electromechanical systems and processes.
    • Lead the research, development, and implementation of new technologies, tools, or methods to improve system performance, reduce costs, or enhance the work environment.
    • Foster a culture of innovation and learning within the team, encouraging the adoption of best practices and cutting-edge technologies.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of electromechanical systems, including electrical circuits, motors, controllers, sensors, PLCs, and automated systems.
  • Extensive troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose complex electrical and mechanical issues using advanced tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in leading, mentoring, and training technical teams.
  • In-depth understanding of system integration, calibration, and optimization techniques to ensure maximum efficiency and performance.
  • Expertise in interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., OSHA, IEC, NEC, and safety protocols).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects effectively.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant certifications in electromechanical systems, automation, PLC programming, or safety are advantageous (e.g., PLC certifications, Six Sigma, electrical safety certifications).

Key Focus Areas:

  • Power Distribution Networks

  • Leading the design, maintenance, and optimization of electromechanical systems within complex power distribution networks.
  • SCADA and PLC Systems

  • Overseeing the implementation, programming, and troubleshooting of SCADA and PLC systems, ensuring seamless integration with electromechanical components.
  • Electrical Safety Standards and Codes (IEC, NEC)

  • Driving compliance with IEC, NEC, and global safety standards, conducting advanced safety audits, and mentoring teams on safety protocols and best practices.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in the electromechanical field, with significant experience in system installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and leadership.
  • Proven experience managing complex electromechanical systems, including electrical and mechanical components, automation, and PLC-based systems.
  • Strong track record of successful project management, including the ability to lead teams, meet deadlines, and ensure client satisfaction.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment used in electromechanical systems (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers).
  • Experience with automation systems, PLC programming tools (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Rockwell), and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with CAD software for designing electrical and mechanical schematics and layouts.
  • Experience with maintenance management software (e.g., CMMS) and other quality management tools.
