The Senior ECS Test Technician leads the execution, development, and improvement of complex test activities for aerospace Environmental Control System (ECS) components, with a focus on pressure, flow, and temperature performance. This role involves deep hands-on involvement in advanced test setups, instrumentation, and diagnostics. The technician mentors junior staff, collaborates closely with engineers, and ensures that all testing meets strict aerospace quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the setup, calibration, and execution of ECS component and subsystem tests involving pressure, airflow, and thermal conditions
Develop custom test configurations and troubleshoot complex fluid and thermal test systems
Interpret engineering test plans and provide feedback to optimize procedures and results
Validate data acquisition setups and ensure proper signal conditioning, sampling, and accuracy
Independently analyze test data and trends to identify anomalies and contribute to engineering assessments
Maintain and enhance test lab infrastructure, tools, instrumentation, and standard operating procedures
Mentor and train junior and mid-level technicians in best practices for test execution, safety, and documentation
Collaborate with design and test engineers to improve test methods and resolve technical challenges
Document test setups, calibrations, and results in detailed reports; contribute to certification and qualification documentation
Ensure strict adherence to test protocols, safety standards (e.g., OSHA), and aerospace quality systems (e.g., AS9100)
Key Focus Areas:
Technical leadership in ECS pressure/flow/temperature testing
High-accuracy instrumentation and data validation
Complex system troubleshooting and optimization
Lab management, mentoring, and process improvement
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Associate or technical degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Technology (required)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry certifications strongly preferred
Experience:
5–10 years of hands-on aerospace or HVAC test experience, with increasing responsibility
Demonstrated experience with ECS, pneumatic systems, thermal management components, or environmental testing
Prior experience supporting FAA/EASA qualification or DO-160/MIL-STD-810 testing a strong plus
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of fluid and thermal dynamics (e.g., flow resistance, pressure decay, heat exchange)
Expert in test instrumentation: pressure transducers, flow meters, RTDs/thermocouples, DAQ systems (e.g., NI LabVIEW, Dewesoft)
Skilled in mechanical assembly, plumbing, and troubleshooting of pressurized and thermal systems
Proficient in interpreting schematics, P&IDs, and electrical/control wiring diagrams
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including technical reporting
Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, and decision-making skills
Quality- and safety-driven mindset with exceptional attention to detail
