Job Title: Ducting & Airflow Technician
Job Summary:
The Mid-Level Ducting & Airflow Technician is responsible for independently assembling, testing, and validating HVAC ducting and air distribution systems in automotive applications. This role involves conducting detailed airflow measurements, troubleshooting system issues, and ensuring duct integrity and airflow balance to meet performance specifications. The technician collaborates closely with engineering and quality teams to optimize duct design and test procedures, contributing to product development and production readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently assemble and install HVAC ducting components and air distribution assemblies on test benches and vehicles.
Perform detailed airflow testing including flow rate measurements, pressure drop analysis, leak detection, and airflow balancing using advanced instrumentation.
Inspect ducting systems for mechanical integrity, fit, and compliance with design specifications.
Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot airflow irregularities or mechanical faults in HVAC systems.
Collaborate with engineers to develop and refine airflow test procedures, ducting layouts, and troubleshooting protocols.
Maintain and calibrate airflow testing equipment and lab tools to ensure accurate data collection.
Document test results, deviations, and corrective actions in test reports and quality management systems.
Train and mentor junior technicians in ducting assembly and airflow testing best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, HVAC, or related field
Additional training in airflow measurement or HVAC systems preferred
Experience:
3–5 years of experience in HVAC ducting assembly, airflow testing, or automotive HVAC validation
Proficient in the use of airflow meters, manometers, and diagnostic equipment
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of airflow dynamics, duct design, and leak detection methods
Experience reading complex technical drawings and specifications
Skilled in equipment calibration and data acquisition
Soft Skills:
Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Effective communication and team collaboration
Ability to train and guide less experienced technicians
