The Director of Turbomachinery leads the engineering, design, reliability, and technical performance oversight of turbomachinery assets including gas turbines, steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, turbo-expanders, and high-speed rotating equipment. The role is critical for ensuring equipment integrity, reliability, innovation, and alignment with organizational goals in large-scale operations or capital projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Leadership & Governance

Serve as the technical authority on turbomachinery selection, application, and performance optimization.

Define engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices related to rotating and high-speed equipment.
2. Asset Design & Application Engineering

Oversee the design review and technical specification of gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors, and expanders across new and existing facilities.

Evaluate operational requirements and select optimal machinery configurations for process or power applications.
3. Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting

Lead performance testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of turbomachinery systems.

Drive upgrades, retrofits, and performance improvement initiatives based on data analytics and OEM recommendations.
4. Project Execution Support

Provide expert support to capital projects (FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning).

Review vendor proposals, participate in FATs, and manage technical interfaces during project execution.
5. Reliability & Lifecycle Management

Implement reliability strategies (RCM, FMEA, RCA) for turbomachinery assets.

Develop long-term strategies for asset lifecycle extension, overhaul planning, and critical spares management.
6. Digital Integration & Innovation

Promote the use of advanced analytics, condition monitoring, and digital twins for predictive maintenance and real-time diagnostics.

Collaborate with OEMs and digital teams to introduce smart performance management tools.
7. Leadership & Team Development

Build, lead, and mentor a team of rotating equipment and turbomachinery engineers.
