The Director of Structural Fabrication is responsible for the strategic leadership and execution of all structural steel fabrication activities associated with boilers, pipe supports, platforms, and auxiliary structures in power plants. This senior role ensures that all structural components are fabricated in compliance with engineering specifications, relevant codes (AISC, ASME, AWS), and project timelines. The Director manages cross-functional teams across fabrication shops and installation sites, ensuring safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
Lead end-to-end structural fabrication processes, including planning, scheduling, execution, and delivery for boiler and piping support structures.
Establish and implement fabrication strategies aligned with plant development, shutdowns, or new build projects.
Oversee project execution across internal fabrication teams and external vendors.
Manage the fabrication of structural elements such as boiler support frames, platforms, pipe racks, walkways, and equipment foundations.
Ensure all works comply with engineering drawings, welding codes (AWS D1.1, ASME), and tolerances.
Review and approve fabrication methods, cutting plans, weld maps, and inspection plans.
Ensure strict adherence to quality assurance processes and compliance with fabrication standards (AISC, AWS, ISO 9001, etc.).
Oversee inspection routines including dimensional checks, NDT, welding audits, and surface preparation.
Maintain traceability of materials, welds, and inspection documentation for project handover.
Enforce a strong safety culture across all fabrication and handling operations.
Review lifting plans, welding fume control, and safe material handling practices.
Lead incident reviews and implement corrective actions to mitigate fabrication-related risks.
Lead and mentor shop supervisors, structural engineers, welders, and fitters.
Oversee contractor and vendor performance related to structural fabrication.
Manage capacity planning, resource allocation, and skills development.
Prepare and control budgets for fabrication projects.
Monitor progress against milestones and adjust resources as necessary to meet schedules and quality targets.
Provide status reports to executive leadership and project stakeholders.
