The Director of Maintenance โ Valve Integrity Programs is responsible for leading the strategy, execution, and optimization of valve maintenance and integrity programs across critical operational assets. This role oversees lifecycle performance, compliance, inspection readiness, and reliability of isolation, control, safety, and relief valves, ensuring safety, operational continuity, and cost-effectiveness.
Develop and lead the Valve Integrity Program (VIP) across all operating units and plants
Define long-term maintenance and reliability strategies for critical and non-critical valves
Ensure alignment with corporate asset management plans and compliance frameworks (e.g., API, ASME, OSHA)
Oversee scheduling, planning, and execution of routine, predictive, and turnaround valve maintenance activities
Ensure adherence to OEM recommendations and performance specifications
Supervise shutdown/start-up readiness of valve assets in coordination with plant operations
Implement condition-based maintenance (CBM) and non-invasive diagnostics for valve performance
Coordinate valve inspection schedules, including leak testing, calibration, actuator health, and fugitive emissions monitoring
Approve inspection reports and determine repair vs. replace decisions based on lifecycle analysis
Lead in-house and outsourced valve repair/overhaul centers
Standardize valve testing and certification protocols (API 598, ISO 5208, etc.)
Ensure proper documentation of valve strip-down, defect analysis, reassembly, and requalification
Ensure all valve assets are correctly recorded, tagged, and monitored in the CMMS / EAM system
Drive implementation of digital tools such as QR/barcode tagging, RFID, and IoT-based valve monitoring
Monitor KPIs: valve failure rates, inspection backlog, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), and repair lead time
Optimize maintenance spend through valve criticality analysis, spares standardization, and vendor consolidation
Lead contract negotiations and performance evaluations with valve OEMs, repair vendors, and service providers
Enforce warranty tracking and root cause failure analysis (RCFA) to reduce repeat failures
Ensure compliance with API, ASME, OSHA, ISO 15848, and local authority regulations
Lead safety risk assessments and participate in HAZOP, MOC, and pressure system reviews
Maintain audit readiness and documentation for internal and external inspections
Lead and develop teams of valve engineers, planners, reliability analysts, and field technicians
Coordinate closely with process, instrumentation, procurement, and HSE teams
Build a continuous improvement culture and mentorship-driven learning environment
