We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and meticulous Director of Compliance – Boiler Codes and Safety to lead and oversee all regulatory, safety, and code compliance matters related to boiler systems and pressure equipment within a thermal power generation environment. This senior role ensures that boiler operations meet or exceed the requirements of national and international standards, while fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Serve as the plant authority on boiler-related codes, standards, and safety regulations including ASME Section I, NBIC, API, OSHA, and local jurisdictional requirements.
Ensure timely and accurate certification, inspection, and documentation for all pressure vessels, steam boilers, safety valves, and auxiliary equipment.
Oversee all interactions with regulators, insurance representatives, and Authorized Inspectors (AIs), ensuring seamless audit and inspection readiness.
Develop and enforce comprehensive boiler safety programs, including pressure relief management, lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and steam blowdown protocols.
Monitor plant-wide safety performance metrics related to boiler and pressure operations, and drive corrective/preventive actions where needed.
Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis (RCA) for safety events involving boiler or pressure systems.
Establish a robust internal compliance framework to track conformance with evolving boiler codes and mechanical integrity standards.
Review engineering designs, operational practices, and maintenance procedures to ensure code-compliant execution.
Maintain a central compliance repository for code documentation, inspection records, and certifications.
Lead compliance training programs for O&M personnel on relevant boiler codes, safety practices, and regulatory changes.
Conduct internal audits and gap assessments to evaluate boiler code compliance and recommend improvement plans.
Champion continuous improvement in code adherence, documentation, and safe work practices through lessons learned and compliance reviews.
Coordinate with plant engineering to ensure design changes, retrofits, and system modifications are compliant with applicable codes.
Support legal, insurance, and risk management functions in claims, incident documentation, and regulatory correspondence.
Act as subject matter expert during project commissioning, shutdown planning, and post-event reporting.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Power, or Safety Engineering (Master’s or Juris Doctorate in Regulatory Affairs preferred)
Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent license strongly preferred
Certifications (Preferred):
NBIC Authorized Inspector (IS or AI)
API 510 / 570 / 579, ASME certification, or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
OSHA 30 or equivalent industrial safety certification
Experience:
15+ years of experience in power generation or heavy industry, with at least 5 years in a senior compliance, HSE, or integrity leadership role
Strong knowledge of boiler design codes, inspection regimes, repair standards, and jurisdictional enforcement mechanisms
Demonstrated experience leading audits, regulatory engagements, and safety compliance programs

In-depth understanding of U-stamp processes, pressure boundary rules, pressure relief system design, and certification flows
