We are seeking a visionary and technically accomplished Director – Thermal Plant Engineering with a strong focus on boiler systems to lead engineering design, performance optimization, reliability initiatives, and compliance for thermal power generation assets. This strategic role requires deep technical expertise in high-pressure steam systems, strong leadership in multidisciplinary engineering teams, and a commitment to advancing operational efficiency and plant reliability in accordance with regulatory and corporate objectives.
Lead the overall thermal engineering strategy related to boilers, HRSGs, and associated pressure systems across one or more power plant sites.
Oversee engineering design, system upgrades, and performance improvement initiatives targeting boiler efficiency, reliability, and emissions compliance.
Drive plant-wide initiatives including energy recovery, combustion optimization, and steam cycle efficiency improvements.
Provide expert oversight on thermal system modeling, combustion analysis, heat balance studies, and boiler-turbine performance correlations.
Guide thermal stress evaluation, fatigue analysis, and creep life assessments of pressure parts and critical weld joints.
Review and approve modifications, redesigns, and component specifications for major boiler equipment.
Ensure adherence to ASME Section I, B31.1, NBIC, and other relevant codes and standards.
Manage engineering documentation for pressure parts, safety valves, and steam piping in alignment with regulatory and plant policy.
Liaise with code authorities, third-party inspectors, and insurance auditors on boiler compliance matters.
Lead engineering aspects of boiler-related capital projects including replacements, retrofits, and advanced controls integration.
Coordinate with construction, commissioning, and OEM vendors to ensure project quality, cost, and schedule targets are met.
Participate in long-term asset planning, lifecycle cost analysis, and technology roadmaps for thermal systems.
Direct and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team specializing in mechanical, thermal, and process systems.
Promote technical excellence, innovation, and professional development within the thermal engineering function.
Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, and HSE departments to ensure engineering alignment with plant needs.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Power Engineering (Master’s Degree preferred)
Professional Engineering License (PE) or Chartered Engineer status highly preferred
Certifications (Preferred):
ASME or NBIC Code Certification
API 579 (Fitness-for-Service), Reliability-Centered Design, or High-Energy Piping (HEP) Certification
OSHA 30, PMP (Project Management Professional) a plus
Experience:
15+ years of engineering experience in thermal power generation, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
In-depth knowledge of boiler technologies including supercritical/subcritical, HRSG, and biomass/coal/gas-fired units
Strong background in failure analysis, finite element modeling, and thermal performance testing
Skills:
Expert-level understanding of steam systems, thermodynamics, combustion, and pressure vessel engineering
Strong leadership, strategic planning, and team development capabilities
Proficient in thermal modeling tools and engineering platforms (e.g., EBSILON, GateCycle, ANSYS)
Excellent communication, risk management, and cross-functional leadership skills
