The Director – SCADA and Automation is responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, implementation, and maintenance of SCADA and industrial automation systems across the organization’s operational network. This role drives the adoption of smart, secure, and resilient control systems to optimize process efficiency, operational visibility, and decision-making in real-time. The Director oversees cross-functional technical teams, ensuring seamless integration of automation technologies into mission-critical infrastructure.
Strategic Planning:
Define the vision and roadmap for SCADA and automation technologies across operational facilities, aligning with digital transformation goals.
System Design & Deployment:
Oversee design, engineering, and commissioning of SCADA architectures, PLC/DCS programming, HMI systems, and industrial communication networks.
Operational Excellence:
Ensure reliable monitoring and control of field operations, including water distribution, treatment plants, energy systems, or manufacturing processes.
Cybersecurity & Compliance:
Implement best practices and standards (e.g., ISA/IEC 62443, NIST) to secure SCADA environments and ensure regulatory compliance.
Innovation & Digitalization:
Champion emerging technologies such as IoT, AI-driven control systems, digital twins, and predictive analytics to enhance automation capabilities.
Project Management:
Lead large-scale automation upgrade projects from design to commissioning, ensuring they meet cost, quality, and schedule targets.
Vendor & Contractor Oversight:
Manage relationships with OEMs, system integrators, and automation partners to deliver solutions that meet organizational needs.
Team Leadership:
Direct a multidisciplinary team of engineers, automation specialists, and system operators. Promote training, performance, and innovation.
Performance Monitoring:
Establish KPIs to assess system health, response time, availability, and integration effectiveness.
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Control Systems Engineering
12–18 years of experience in SCADA and industrial automation, including 5+ years in a senior management role
Expertise in SCADA systems (e.g., GE, Siemens, Schneider), PLC/DCS programming, and telemetry networks
Experience in utilities, infrastructure, or industrial plants (water, power, oil & gas preferred)
Certifications such as ISA, CAP, PMP, or cybersecurity credentials are a plus
Executive leadership in automation strategy and control systems integration
Strong technical understanding of SCADA, PLCs, industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC, DNP3)
Knowledge of cybersecurity practices in OT environments
Project governance and budgeting experience
Effective team management, communication, and stakeholder engagement
