We are seeking an accomplished Director – Powertrain Systems to lead the design, development, and integration of powertrain systems across multiple vehicle programs. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in ICE, hybrid, and/or electric powertrains, with a strong emphasis on system-level architecture, integration, performance optimization, and cross-functional leadership. This role is responsible for ensuring all powertrain systems meet performance, regulatory, cost, and quality targets from concept to production.
Define and own powertrain system architectures (ICE, hybrid, EV) in alignment with product roadmaps.
Drive technical excellence in powertrain design: engines, motors, transmissions, drivetrains, inverters, batteries, and control systems.
Align performance, emissions, durability, efficiency, and packaging targets with broader vehicle-level goals.
Lead cross-functional powertrain engineering teams through all phases of product development (Concept → SOP).
Ensure robust planning and execution of DVP&R, CAE validation, thermal management, and powertrain integration.
Manage design freeze, test validation gates, and issue resolution.
Interface with electrical, controls, thermal, and vehicle systems teams to enable optimal system-level performance.
Work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure production-readiness and cost effectiveness.
Lead technical discussions with suppliers, development partners, and testing facilities.
Approve component and system-level specifications and validation reports.
Build and lead a high-performing team of powertrain engineers and technical specialists.
Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering discipline.
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Electrical Engineering.
12+ years of experience in powertrain development, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
Demonstrated experience with ICE, hybrid, and/or EV powertrain systems.
Strong understanding of system integration, thermal management, NVH, emissions, and energy efficiency.
Proficient with CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, NX), CAE tools, simulation methodologies, and powertrain controls.
Deep familiarity with regulatory compliance (BS6, Euro 6, EPA, CARB, etc.).
