We are seeking a proactive and experienced Director – Plant Maintenance & Valve Operations to lead the maintenance strategy and operational reliability of water treatment plants, with a specialized focus on valve systems and critical mechanical assets. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal plant performance, minimizing downtime, and extending asset life through effective maintenance programs and valve management.
Maintenance Leadership & Strategy
Develop and execute comprehensive maintenance plans for mechanical systems, with an emphasis on valves, actuators, pumps, and associated equipment within water treatment facilities.
Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
Optimize maintenance workflows, staffing, and resource allocation to support continuous plant operations.
Valve Operations Management
Oversee valve inventory, testing, repair, and replacement activities to ensure operational integrity and regulatory compliance.
Implement valve management programs including condition monitoring, calibration, and lifecycle assessment.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support valve-related projects and upgrades.
Team Leadership & Development
Manage and mentor maintenance supervisors, technicians, and valve specialists.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
Coordinate training and certification programs to enhance team capabilities.
Operational Excellence & Safety Compliance
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance effectiveness, valve performance, and plant reliability.
Ensure compliance with safety standards (OSHA), environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Budget & Vendor Management
Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, including spare parts, tools, and contractor services.
Oversee procurement and vendor relationships for valve parts, repair services, and maintenance equipment.
Negotiate contracts and ensure vendor performance meets quality and schedule requirements.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (required)
Relevant technical certifications preferred
Experience:
10+ years in plant maintenance or mechanical operations within water/wastewater treatment
Strong expertise in valve systems management and maintenance best practices
Proven leadership in managing maintenance teams and complex mechanical assets
Skills:
Deep knowledge of valve types, diagnostics, testing, and repair techniques
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with CMMS, asset management software, and safety regulations
