The Director – Plant Engineering (Mechanical Systems with Turbines) is responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership in the planning, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems, with a specific focus on turbine-driven operations. This role ensures optimal plant performance, equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and lifecycle efficiency of key mechanical and turbomachinery systems across production or utility facilities. The director will lead engineering teams, oversee capital projects, and drive performance improvements across rotating equipment infrastructure.
Mechanical Systems Leadership
Oversee engineering design, modification, and performance optimization of major plant mechanical systems, including turbines (steam, gas, hydro), pumps, compressors, valves, and HVAC systems.
Provide expert-level technical oversight of rotating and static equipment to support safe and efficient operations.
Turbine Systems Oversight
Lead performance monitoring, diagnostics, and failure investigations for turbine systems.
Ensure optimal configuration, installation, and maintenance of turbine components and associated auxiliaries.
Capital Projects & Upgrades
Manage the planning and execution of capital improvement projects involving major mechanical infrastructure and turbine retrofits.
Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to improve system reliability and energy efficiency.
Maintenance & Reliability
Establish and maintain condition-based and predictive maintenance strategies for mechanical and rotating assets.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for plant reliability, asset utilization, and mechanical integrity.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with all applicable engineering codes, environmental regulations, and workplace safety standards (e.g., ASME, API, OSHA).
Promote a safety-first culture across plant engineering and maintenance teams.
Team Development & Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop plant engineers, reliability specialists, and project managers.
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and engineering excellence.
Budgeting & Asset Planning
Develop and manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets related to mechanical systems and turbine maintenance.
Support long-term asset management and lifecycle planning initiatives.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
12+ years of experience in plant mechanical systems and turbine operations, including leadership roles.
Proven expertise in rotating equipment engineering, plant utilities, and turbomachinery design.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent credential preferred.
In-depth knowledge of turbine technologies (steam, gas, hydro) and mechanical asset management
Strong analytical and diagnostic skills in system performance and equipment failure analysis
Effective leadership in cross-disciplinary engineering and operations environments
Familiarity with design and compliance codes (ASME, API, NFPA, ISO)
Proficiency in asset management systems, CMMS platforms, and reliability tools
