We are seeking an experienced and compliance-driven Director – Mechanical Integrity and Valve Compliance to lead the strategic oversight and execution of mechanical integrity programs, with a particular focus on valves and pressure-retaining components. This senior-level position ensures that mechanical systems operate safely, reliably, and in full compliance with applicable codes and regulatory standards. The role is critical to minimizing risk, maximizing asset performance, and ensuring long-term operational excellence.
Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive mechanical integrity (MI) program in accordance with industry regulations and internal standards.
Oversee inspection plans, test procedures, and performance tracking for pressure vessels, piping, valves, tanks, and related components.
Champion best practices for the lifecycle management of mechanical assets.
Define and enforce valve compliance programs for critical service valves, relief devices, and isolation valves.
Establish valve inspection, testing, and repair schedules (e.g., for safety relief valves, control valves, block valves).
Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure tagging, traceability, and certification of valve equipment.
Implement RBI methodologies to prioritize inspections based on risk and consequence of failure.
Oversee or coordinate fitness-for-service (FFS) evaluations in line with API 579 and similar standards.
Approve technical recommendations for run/repair/replace decisions.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards including OSHA PSM, API 510/570/653, ASME, NBIC, and local pressure equipment directives.
Serve as the technical authority during regulatory inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
Maintain awareness of evolving compliance requirements and advise executive leadership accordingly.
Leverage CMMS, AIMS (Asset Integrity Management Systems), and digital tools to track inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
Ensure all mechanical integrity documentation is up to date, accurate, and audit-ready.
Generate and present executive reports, dashboards, and KPIs on program effectiveness and compliance.
Lead multidisciplinary teams including mechanical engineers, inspectors, reliability specialists, and third-party contractors.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring across departments on integrity-related matters.
Collaborate with operations, process safety, and maintenance to align strategies and ensure business continuity.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
10–15+ years of experience in asset integrity, mechanical inspection, or pressure systems compliance in regulated industries (e.g., oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical processing, power).
Strong understanding of valve design, operation, testing, and failure modes.
Deep knowledge of applicable industry standards (API, ASME, NBIC, OSHA, ISO).
API certifications (e.g., API 510, API 570, API 653, API 580).
NBIC Commission (National Board).
Certified Reliability Leader (CRL), or equivalent.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.
