The Director – HVAC Engineering & Maintenance leads the design, engineering, and maintenance operations of HVAC systems within a power plant environment. This role ensures HVAC reliability, energy efficiency, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. The director drives continuous improvement initiatives, manages a multidisciplinary team, and oversees capital projects related to HVAC infrastructure critical to plant operations.
Oversee HVAC system design, upgrades, and modifications to support power plant operational requirements.
Ensure HVAC engineering designs comply with industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA) and regulatory codes.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and projects teams for integration of HVAC with plant systems.
Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for HVAC equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, and ventilation systems.
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for HVAC system failures and inefficiencies.
Monitor HVAC system performance metrics and implement optimization measures.
Ensure HVAC operations and maintenance activities comply with safety standards and environmental regulations.
Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and ensure team adherence to PPE and work procedures.
Manage vendor compliance for HVAC-related inspections and certifications.
Plan and manage HVAC capital improvement projects, including budgeting, procurement, and schedule oversight.
Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for HVAC equipment installation, testing, and commissioning.
Evaluate new technologies to improve system reliability and energy efficiency.
Lead a team of HVAC engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or related technical field
Experience:
12+ years in HVAC engineering and maintenance, preferably within power plant or industrial environments
Proven experience managing HVAC teams and capital projects
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of HVAC codes (ASHRAE, SMACNA) and plant system integration
Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
Familiarity with CMMS and HVAC control systems (BMS)
