We are seeking a results-driven and experienced Director – Field Services & Valve Programs to lead field operations, service delivery, and valve program management across water and wastewater treatment systems. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of field activities while maintaining the performance and integrity of valve systems that are critical to plant operations and distribution networks.
Field Services Leadership
Direct and manage all field service operations, including on-site mechanical support, emergency response, and maintenance execution for treatment facilities and pipeline infrastructure.
Develop field team protocols to support routine and non-routine valve and mechanical system maintenance.
Ensure field teams operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
Valve Program Management
Establish and lead comprehensive valve management programs, including inventory, inspection, lubrication, exercise, repair, and replacement scheduling.
Oversee data collection, valve performance tracking, and condition assessments to inform capital planning and reduce failure risks.
Implement asset tagging, GIS mapping, and digital tracking systems for valve-related assets.
Team Development & Supervision
Hire, train, and supervise field service personnel, valve technicians, and maintenance crews.
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and performance evaluations to ensure high team standards.
Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and customer service across all field operations.
Program Planning & Optimization
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance leadership to align field services and valve work with overall system reliability goals.
Integrate field data into asset management systems to drive proactive maintenance and long-term planning.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime, minimize service disruptions, and increase operational efficiency.
Vendor & Contractor Oversight
Manage third-party contractors and vendors supporting valve repairs, field installations, or specialty services.
Ensure quality control, adherence to schedule, and compliance with company standards for all outsourced work.
Leadership of field operations and mechanical service teams
Comprehensive valve asset management and optimization
Coordination of routine, emergency, and capital valve work
Workforce development and safety culture promotion
Collaboration across engineering, O&M, and asset management groups
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field (preferred)
Technical certification or equivalent field operations experience acceptable
Experience:
10+ years of experience in field services, utility maintenance, or valve program leadership
Direct experience in water/wastewater systems, valves, and distribution network components
Experience managing field crews and coordinating large-scale service programs
Skills:
Strong leadership, coordination, and crisis management skills
Knowledge of valve types (gate, plug, check, pressure-reducing, etc.) and maintenance techniques
Familiarity with CMMS, GIS, and asset management software
Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management abilities
