The Director – Environmental Control Systems is responsible for the strategic leadership, engineering, and maintenance of HVAC and ventilation systems critical to environmental control within a power plant facility. This role ensures systems meet operational demands, environmental regulations, and safety standards while driving energy efficiency and system reliability. The director leads a technical team and manages capital projects focused on air quality, ventilation, and climate control.
Oversee design, installation, and maintenance of HVAC and ventilation systems tailored to power plant operational needs.
Ensure systems comply with environmental regulations, industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA), and plant safety requirements.
Implement energy-efficient technologies and control strategies to optimize system performance.
Ensure ventilation systems maintain air quality standards to protect personnel and equipment.
Lead regulatory compliance efforts related to emissions, air handling, and ventilation.
Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and enforce safety protocols within the team.
Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs for HVAC and ventilation equipment.
Monitor system performance metrics and initiate corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Coordinate with operations and safety teams to respond to environmental control issues promptly.
Plan and oversee upgrades, expansions, and retrofits of environmental control systems.
Manage budgets, vendor contracts, and project schedules to ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery.
Evaluate emerging technologies for environmental control improvements.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and specialists.
Foster collaboration with environmental compliance, operations, and maintenance departments.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
Experience:
12+ years in HVAC and ventilation system engineering and maintenance, preferably in power plant or heavy industrial environments
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and industry standards
Skills:
Expertise in HVAC codes (ASHRAE), ventilation system design, and air quality control
Experience with building management systems (BMS) and automated control systems
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management abilities
