The Director – Energy Efficiency and HVAC Optimization leads strategic initiatives to improve energy performance and optimize HVAC systems across water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role focuses on reducing energy consumption, lowering operational costs, and enhancing sustainability by implementing innovative HVAC technologies, energy management practices, and continuous improvement programs. The director collaborates across departments to integrate energy efficiency into facility operations while maintaining system reliability and regulatory compliance.
Develop and execute comprehensive energy efficiency programs targeting HVAC and related mechanical systems.
Identify opportunities for HVAC optimization, retrofits, and technology upgrades that reduce energy use and carbon footprint.
Lead energy audits, benchmarking, and performance monitoring initiatives.
Oversee assessment and optimization of HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, ventilation, air handling units, and controls.
Implement advanced HVAC control strategies, building automation, and predictive maintenance technologies.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to integrate HVAC optimization with plant processes.
Manage capital projects and initiatives focused on energy efficiency and HVAC system improvements.
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Utilize energy management software and data analytics tools to track HVAC performance and energy savings.
Prepare reports and presentations on energy metrics, savings, and sustainability progress for senior leadership.
Ensure all energy and HVAC initiatives comply with relevant codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in energy efficiency and HVAC optimization.
Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing team focused on energy and HVAC optimization.

Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, Environmental Engineering, or related field (required)
Experience:
10+ years in energy management, HVAC engineering, or sustainability roles, preferably in water treatment or industrial facilities
Proven track record managing energy efficiency projects and HVAC system optimization
Experience with building automation systems (BAS), energy modeling, and control systems
