This role will oversee cross-functional engineering teams, manage supplier relationships, and ensure alignment with global emissions regulations (e.g., Euro 6/7, EPA, BS VI), driving innovation in engine performance, emissions reduction, and cost-effective system integration.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Technical Oversight

  • Define long-term strategy for EGR and emissions control system architecture across vehicle platforms.

  • Lead design, development, and validation of EGR valves (pneumatic, electric, or integrated with VGTs) and associated control systems.

  • Guide simulation and testing efforts for flow dynamics, thermal behavior, and durability of EGR components.

2. Regulatory Compliance & Certification

  • Ensure products meet or exceed emissions regulations (e.g., EPA, Euro 7, CARB, BS VI, China VI).

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration for certification testing, documentation, and emissions reporting.

  • Stay ahead of global regulatory changes and influence internal planning accordingly.

3. Cross-Functional Program Management

  • Coordinate with powertrain, calibration, electronics, and vehicle integration teams.

  • Lead DFMEA, PFMEA, and DVP&R processes for emissions components.

  • Ensure timely delivery of project milestones, budget adherence, and supplier performance.

4. Supplier and Technology Management

  • Oversee selection, development, and performance management of EGR valve and sensor suppliers.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies in EGR cooling, valve actuation, and emission reduction techniques (e.g., LP-EGR, HP-EGR integration).

5. Team Leadership and Capability Building

  • Build and lead a high-performing global team of engineers and specialists.

  • Drive innovation culture through training, mentorship, and performance development.

  • Represent the company at technical forums, regulatory meetings, and industry groups.

Key Focus Areas:

  • EGR Valve System Architecture & Integration

  • Global Emissions Compliance Strategy

  • Cross-Functional Engineering Leadership

  • Supplier Development & Technology Sourcing

  • Powertrain Efficiency and Emissions Optimization

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in emissions systems, engine development, or powertrain controls.

  • Deep understanding of EGR systems (LP/HP), SCR, DPF, NOx control, and related components.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with heavy-duty diesel, off-highway, or commercial vehicle platforms.

  • Strong knowledge of calibration tools, CFD/thermal simulation, and emissions measurement systems.

  • Demonstrated leadership in launching compliant products in multiple regions (e.g., NAFTA, EU, India, China).

  • Effective communicator with cross-cultural, cross-functional leadership experience.
