Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Digital Manufacturing Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation, integration, and optimization of digital systems within manufacturing operations. This role bridges the gap between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT), driving efficiency, connectivity, and real-time decision-making across the production floor.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the deployment, configuration, and management of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERP integrations, and other digital tools.

  • Drive adoption of digital technologies such as IoT, AI/ML, data analytics, and digital twins in the manufacturing environment.

  • Collaborate with engineering, IT, production, and quality teams to ensure systems meet operational and business requirements.

  • Manage system upgrades, cybersecurity protocols, and data governance standards.

  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify areas for process improvement, automation, and cost reduction.

  • Train and support plant teams on digital tools and workflows.

  • Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with the company’s Industry 4.0 roadmap.

  • Monitor performance metrics and KPIs to measure system effectiveness and ROI.


Key Focus Areas:

  1. Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES):
    Oversee the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of MES to ensure real-time visibility and control of manufacturing operations.

  2. IT/OT Integration:
    Ensure seamless connectivity between operational equipment (PLCs, SCADA, sensors) and enterprise IT systems (ERP, cloud platforms).

  3. Data Analytics & Visualization:
    Develop dashboards and reporting tools to track performance, predict downtime, and guide decision-making using real-time and historical data.

  4. Smart Manufacturing Technologies:
    Drive the adoption of Industry 4.0 tools like AI, machine learning, and IoT for predictive maintenance, quality control, and production optimization.

  5. Cybersecurity:
    Implement robust protocols to protect digital manufacturing systems from cyber threats and maintain data integrity.

  6. Continuous Improvement & Automation:
    Use digital insights to identify and implement process enhancements, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

  7. Change Management & Training:
    Lead change initiatives and support workforce adaptation by training teams on new systems and digital best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing systems management or digital transformation roles.

  • Strong knowledge of MES, ERP, SCADA, and industrial automation systems.

  • Hands-on experience with data analytics platforms (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) and industrial IoT.

  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is an advantage.
