Job Summary:

The Design Manager (Architecture/Structural/MEP) is responsible for managing and coordinating the overall design process across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines for complex building and infrastructure projects. This role ensures that all design deliverables meet the project’s functional, aesthetic, regulatory, and budgetary requirements. The Design Manager acts as a key liaison between consultants, clients, and internal project teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate, and manage all design activities from concept to construction stage across Architecture, Structural, and MEP disciplines.

  • Review and approve design submissions, drawings, technical specifications, and BOQs.

  • Manage relationships with consultants, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure design intent is realized.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, standards, and client requirements.

  • Conduct design reviews, value engineering, and clash detection in coordination with BIM teams.

  • Monitor design progress, deadlines, and issue resolution to align with the project schedule.

  • Manage design risks and propose solutions to maintain cost-effectiveness and functionality.

  • Support procurement and construction teams with technical clarifications and design coordination.

  • Facilitate coordination meetings and workshops with stakeholders and disciplines.

  • Ensure proper documentation, version control, and approval workflows for all design deliverables.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil/Structural, or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum 10 years of design experience, with at least 5 years in a design management role.

  • Proven experience in multi-disciplinary coordination for large-scale projects (e.g., commercial, residential, hospitals, or infrastructure).

  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and BIM 360.

  • Familiarity with international codes (e.g., IBC, ACI, ASHRAE, NFPA, or equivalent local standards).


Preferred Competencies:

  • Strong project management and leadership skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.

  • Detail-oriented with a deep understanding of technical drawings and specifications.

  • Ability to manage multiple consultants and deadlines effectively.

  • Experience with design-build or EPC projects is an advantage.
