We are seeking a seasoned Data Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team of data engineers. This role focuses on aligning data platform capabilities with business objectives, overseeing the delivery of scalable and reliable data solutions, and fostering a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise along with proven leadership in managing people, projects, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Experience
8+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields
3+ years of experience in a technical leadership or people management role
Demonstrated success in delivering complex data infrastructure and leading data teams
Lead, manage, and mentor a team of data engineers responsible for building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and platforms
Own the data engineering roadmap in alignment with company-wide analytics and product strategies
Drive architectural decisions for data warehousing, real-time processing, and data lake environments
Oversee the execution of ETL/ELT processes, data ingestion pipelines, and data modeling projects
Establish engineering standards, code quality, and best practices within the team
Collaborate closely with Data Science, Analytics, Product, and Infrastructure teams to support evolving data needs
Monitor team performance, facilitate career development, and conduct regular feedback sessions
Ensure robust data governance, security, and compliance practices
Manage project planning, resourcing, and delivery timelines
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
Master’s degree (e.g., M.S., MBA) is preferred
Strong expertise in SQL, Python, and distributed data systems
Hands-on experience with cloud data ecosystems: AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue), GCP (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow), or Azure
In-depth knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, and data warehouse design
Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka, Hive)
Proficient in workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Dagster, Prefect)
Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform)
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to align technical solutions with business goals and outcomes
