The Junior Cooling Tower Supervisor is responsible for supporting the day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and inspection of cooling tower systems within a power generation or industrial facility. The role includes assisting in minor repairs, supervising routine cleaning and chemical treatment processes, and ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards under the guidance of senior staff.
Routine Inspection & Monitoring
Conduct daily inspections of cooling towers, pumps, fans, water basins, and distribution systems.
Record operational parameters such as water flow, temperature, vibration, and fan performance.
Support Maintenance Activities
Assist in coordinating and executing minor maintenance and cleaning activities (e.g., nozzle cleaning, motor lubrication, fill inspection).
Escalate major issues to senior supervisors and recommend preventive measures.
Water Treatment Monitoring
Coordinate with the water treatment team to ensure proper dosing of chemicals and monitor for scaling, corrosion, and biological fouling.
Check blowdown rates and ensure proper water quality parameters are maintained.
Team Coordination & Safety
Supervise a small team of technicians or contractors performing cooling tower maintenance.
Ensure safe work practices, PPE compliance, and participation in safety toolbox talks.
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain logs for inspections, work completed, anomalies, and water chemistry readings.
Assist in preparing maintenance schedules and documentation for audits or reporting.
💧 Cooling Tower Efficiency: Maintain proper functioning and efficiency of heat rejection systems through regular inspection and timely intervention.
🔍 Preventive Maintenance: Assist in early identification of issues to minimize breakdowns and prolong equipment life.
🛡 Safety & Hygiene: Focus on safe working conditions around wet and elevated structures; enforce hygiene protocols to reduce Legionella and biohazard risks.
📋 Data Logging & Reporting: Ensure operational and chemical parameters are recorded accurately for analysis and optimization.
🤝 Learning & Development: Gain hands-on experience under senior supervision and build technical capability in cooling tower operations.
Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Maintenance
Experience: 1–3 years in mechanical or utility plant operations, preferably involving cooling towers
Certifications (Preferred): Basic Safety Training, Working at Heights, Water Chemistry Awareness
Basic knowledge of cooling tower systems (natural draft, forced draft, induced draft)
Familiarity with mechanical components: motors, fans, gearboxes, drift eliminators
Understanding of industrial water treatment principles
Ability to work at height, in hot/humid environments, and follow safety procedures
Good communication, reporting, and team collaboration skills
Primarily site-based with physical activity in outdoor environments
Involves climbing, exposure to wet and noisy conditions, and shift-based work if required
Must adhere to PPE and safety policies at all times
