The Senior Control Panel Assembly Technician leads complex control panel builds for laboratory systems used in regulated and critical environments. This role involves expert-level interpretation of schematics, precise panel layout, advanced troubleshooting, and collaboration with design and QA teams. The senior technician ensures adherence to high-quality standards (e.g., GMP, UL508A, IEC) and supports junior technicians with training and technical mentorship.
Advanced Panel Assembly Execution
Lead the assembly of complex laboratory control panels for temperature, humidity, gas flow, and other critical control systems.
Ensure optimal panel layout for serviceability, airflow, and compliance with project specifications.
Technical Interpretation and Redlining
Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, I/O layouts, loop drawings, and network topologies.
Identify drawing conflicts or design flaws and redline schematics for engineering revisions.
Precision Wiring and Termination
Execute high-density wiring using proper bend radius, shielding, and signal separation techniques.
Terminate PLCs, power supplies, HMIs, instrumentation, VFDs, and clean signal cables with full traceability.
Standards Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with UL508A, IEC standards, and facility-specific cleanroom requirements.
Lead internal QA inspections and support external FAT/SAT preparation.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution
Diagnose and correct wiring issues, mislabels, polarity errors, and power faults during internal testing.
Coordinate with engineering and testing teams for power-up, loop testing, and I/O verification.
Mentorship and Team Leadership
Train junior technicians on proper assembly practices, tool use, and wiring discipline.
Supervise team members on large projects and delegate assembly tasks effectively.
Material and Inventory Oversight
Ensure availability of panel components, consumables, and BOM compliance.
Collaborate with inventory and procurement to manage panel kits and reduce rework risk.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Liaise with design, automation, and validation teams to understand control system needs.
Provide technical input on panel designs, cable schedules, and panel mounting strategies.
Continuous Improvement and Documentation
Propose process improvements in panel layout, assembly ergonomics, and tooling efficiency.
Maintain build records, update SOPs, and contribute to standardization of lab control panels.
