The Junior Control Panel Assembly Technician supports the fabrication and wiring of laboratory control panels used for automation, monitoring, and environmental regulation. The role involves reading basic electrical schematics, mounting components, wiring terminations, and assisting with quality checks under supervision.
Panel Component Mounting
Assist in mounting electrical components (relays, circuit breakers, PLCs, terminal blocks, etc.) on backplates using layout diagrams.
Follow mounting torque and alignment specifications.
Wiring and Termination Support
Perform basic wiring tasks such as cutting, stripping, and crimping wires.
Route wires neatly and label as per wiring schedule or drawing.
Schematic Reading and Interpretation
Learn to interpret elementary electrical diagrams and panel layout drawings.
Identify components by tag numbers and follow wire numbering systems.
Assembly Workstation Safety and Cleanliness
Maintain a safe and organized workspace while working with hand tools and powered screwdrivers.
Follow proper PPE use and ESD protection procedures during panel assembly.
Panel Testing and Inspection Support
Assist in basic continuity checks and pre-power inspections under supervision.
Report any wiring mismatches, damaged components, or layout discrepancies.
Material Handling and Kitting
Identify and collect required components and hardware from stock for each panel build.
Track consumption and alert for shortages or discrepancies.
Documentation and Labeling
Label wires, components, and terminals according to BOM and electrical drawings.
Maintain build records and update status in production logs.
Team Coordination
Work collaboratively with senior technicians, electricians, and quality personnel.
Communicate clearly when issues arise or clarification is needed.
Learning and Development
Engage in continuous learning related to control systems, panel wiring standards, and industry practices.
Be open to cross-training in test, packaging, or troubleshooting roles.
Education:
ITI or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.
Experience:
0–2 years in electrical panel assembly or related vocational training experience.
Skills Required:
Basic understanding of electrical symbols and wiring practices.
Familiarity with tools like wire cutters, crimpers, screwdrivers, and multimeters.
Ability to follow instructions and maintain quality workmanship.
