The Senior Construction Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing and leading the implementation of all health and safety policies on large or high-risk construction sites. This role ensures compliance with local and international HSE regulations, conducts high-level audits, and leads the incident investigation and risk management processes. The Senior Safety Officer also provides guidance and mentoring to junior HSE staff.
Develop and enforce the site’s overall health and safety plan in coordination with management.
Conduct detailed risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and high-level HSE audits.
Lead investigations into serious incidents, accidents, or near-misses and prepare detailed reports.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and client-specific HSE standards (OSHA, ISO 45001, local laws).
Oversee emergency preparedness, including drills, evacuation plans, and first aid response systems.
Supervise and train junior HSE officers, safety assistants, and site workers on advanced safety practices.
Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to review and improve method statements and safety procedures.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of site inspections, incidents, training, and regulatory compliance.
Interface with government inspectors, client HSE representatives, and auditors as required.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and behavioral safety throughout the workforce.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
6–10 years of HSE experience in construction or infrastructure projects, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
Strong understanding of risk management, legal compliance, and incident prevention strategies.
Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or higher (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma)
ISO 45001:2018 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor Certification
OSHA 30-hour certification
First Aid, Fire Safety, Working at Heights, and Confined Space Entry Training
