The Junior Construction Safety Officer assists in implementing safety policies and procedures on construction sites. The role involves monitoring site conditions, supporting hazard identification, and ensuring basic compliance with safety standards under the supervision of senior HSE personnel.
Conduct regular inspections of work areas to identify safety hazards or unsafe practices.
Assist in enforcing compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Support the delivery of toolbox talks, safety inductions, and training sessions.
Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and report non-compliance.
Assist in preparing safety reports and maintaining records of incidents, near misses, and inspections.
Observe construction activities to ensure safe work practices are followed.
Support emergency drills and the implementation of site-specific safety procedures.
Report unsafe conditions or equipment to supervisors for corrective action.
Maintain stock and proper distribution of safety signs and equipment.
Encourage a culture of safety awareness among workers.
Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
Basic knowledge of construction site operations and safety protocols.
0–2 years of experience in a similar safety or HSE support role.
Familiar with standard PPE and basic hazard types.
Physically fit and willing to work outdoors in various conditions.
Good observational and communication skills.
Basic HSE certifications (e.g., OSHA 10, First Aid, Fire Safety, etc.).
Previous internship or exposure to a construction site environment.
