The Junior Compliance Engineer – 3-A Sanitary Valve Systems supports compliance efforts related to sanitary valve equipment and fluid handling systems used in food and beverage processing. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and QA/Regulatory staff, this role ensures that valve systems used in product and CIP/SIP processes meet hygienic design requirements such as 3-A, EHEDG, and relevant FDA/USDA regulations. This position combines engineering documentation, design review, and inspection support to ensure regulatory readiness and product integrity.
Assist in reviewing valve system designs (e.g., butterfly, diaphragm, mixproof) for adherence to 3-A Sanitary Standards and EHEDG guidelines.
Participate in design validation processes to confirm compliance with cleanability, drainability, and material compatibility requirements.
Support equipment qualification efforts for valve assemblies used in CIP/SIP and food contact applications.
Maintain and organize documentation related to valve certifications, material traceability, and hygienic design compliance (e.g., 3-A symbol authorization, FDA food-grade materials).
Assist in preparing documentation for internal audits, customer inspections, and regulatory submissions.
Support QA and maintenance teams during inspections and audits involving sanitary valve installations.
Participate in post-installation verification activities such as visual inspections, swab testing, and cleaning validation.
Contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs) related to valve-related compliance deviations or product quality concerns.
Provide basic engineering support for specification updates, change control, and supplier documentation reviews.
3-A and EHEDG sanitary valve system design compliance

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Food Engineering, or related field
Coursework in sanitary/hygienic design or food processing systems preferred
Introductory training in 3-A Sanitary Standards or EHEDG
HACCP, PCQI, or GMP compliance exposure a plus
0–2 years of relevant experience in sanitary process systems, regulatory compliance, or food equipment engineering
Internship or co-op in a food, beverage, dairy, or pharma environment is a strong plus
Basic understanding of sanitary valve types and clean-in-place (CIP/SIP) systems
Familiarity with regulatory standards (3-A, FDA, USDA, FSMA)
Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation practices
Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn in a regulated environment
