We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Cold Room / Freezer Maintenance Technician to lead the maintenance and optimization of cold storage systems, including walk-in freezers, chillers, blast coolers, refrigerated warehouses, and temperature-controlled clean zones. This role demands advanced knowledge in industrial refrigeration, troubleshooting, and compliance with GMP, HACCP, and cold chain standards.
The senior technician will also mentor junior team members, support audits, and drive reliability improvements and energy efficiency in cold room operations.
Lead preventive and corrective maintenance for refrigeration systems: compressors, evaporators, condensers, valves, fans, and controllers.
Diagnose and resolve complex faults such as low/high pressure failures, defrost malfunctions, inconsistent cooling, and refrigerant imbalances.
Optimize system performance based on load variation, energy use, and operational data.
Oversee refrigerant handling (charging, recovery, leak detection) in line with regulatory and environmental standards (e.g., F-Gas, GWP protocols).
Maintain refrigeration logs and service histories in CMMS or logbooks.
Conduct performance audits on system efficiency and temperature reliability.
Ensure systems meet strict temperature control standards for sensitive products (e.g., vaccines, dairy, meat, biologics).
Support temperature mapping, alarm response, and root cause investigations for temperature excursions.
Participate in qualification/requalification of cold rooms (IQ/OQ/PQ) and support regulatory inspections (GMP, HACCP, FDA).
Guide junior technicians in diagnostics, PM execution, and safe work practices.
Review and improve SOPs, PM checklists, and documentation templates.
Coordinate with QA, production, and warehouse teams on cold room readiness and maintenance planning.
Ensure adherence to safety standards (LOTO, PPE, chemical safety, confined space entry).
Identify and implement energy-saving improvements in refrigeration operations.
Monitor control systems (including BAS/BMS if integrated) and support system upgrades or retrofits.
