We are looking for a skilled and proactive Mid-Level Cold Room / Freezer Maintenance Technician to handle the operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of cold storage equipment. This includes walk-in cold rooms, deep freezers, blast chillers, refrigerated warehouses, and associated HVACR systems.
The technician will ensure optimal performance of refrigeration systems to meet temperature control requirements, regulatory compliance (such as GMP, HACCP, or ISO), and operational continuity in critical environments.
Perform scheduled maintenance on refrigeration units, evaporators, condensers, defrost systems, and compressors.
Inspect, clean, and service components like coils, fan motors, door heaters, and expansion valves.
Ensure door gaskets, seals, and insulation panels are intact and functioning efficiently.
Monitor and record operating conditions such as suction/discharge pressure, temperature, and refrigerant levels.
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues such as temperature fluctuations, icing, defrost cycle failures, or sensor faults.
Use diagnostic tools (gauges, meters, thermometers) to identify mechanical or control-related issues.
Handle refrigerants safely as per safety and environmental protocols (F-Gas/GWP regulations).
Check for leaks and perform minor refrigerant top-ups under supervision or certification.
Ensure compliance with refrigerant usage, recovery, and storage guidelines.
Maintain logs for temperature deviations, preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and part replacements.
Complete reports required for internal QA, audits, or regulatory authorities.
Adhere to cold chain compliance standards relevant to food or pharmaceutical industries.
Follow safety protocols including lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, and confined space guidelines.
Assist in start-up, shutdown, and emergency operations of cold rooms and freezers.
Support upgrades, retrofits, or modifications in collaboration with engineering teams.
Coordinate with QA, warehouse, or production teams regarding cold room availability and scheduled maintenance.
Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior technicians.
Support installation or commissioning of new refrigeration units.
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance of Cold Storage Equipment
System Diagnostics and Fault Resolution
Refrigerant Handling and Leak Detection
Temperature Compliance for Cold Chain Integrity (GMP, HACCP, ISO)
Documentation and CMMS Reporting
Support for Safety and Energy Efficiency Initiatives
ITI / Diploma in Refrigeration, HVAC, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
3–6 years of experience in industrial refrigeration or cold room maintenance.
Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles and component functionality.
Experience with cold rooms in pharmaceutical, food, or logistics settings.
Familiarity with temperature monitoring systems (BMS/BAS integration is a plus).
Working knowledge of defrost cycles, thermostats, control panels, and safety devices.
Certification in refrigerant handling (preferred or required depending on region).
