The Chief Mechanical Officer (CMO) for Fabrication and Field Services is a senior executive responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for all mechanical fabrication, installation, and field service activities within a power plant environment. This role ensures the integrity, reliability, and efficiency of mechanical systems through comprehensive oversight of fabrication workshops, field erection teams, maintenance services, and quality assurance programs. The CMO drives innovation, safety excellence, and best practices to support plant availability and compliance with industry codes and regulations.
Develop and execute the mechanical fabrication and field services strategy aligned with corporate objectives and power plant operational goals.
Lead the management of fabrication shops, field service teams, and mechanical maintenance crews ensuring seamless coordination and resource optimization.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce downtime, and improve mechanical system reliability.
Oversee the fabrication of critical mechanical components including pressure vessels, piping spools, structural steel, and equipment skids.
Manage field erection and commissioning of mechanical systems ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
Ensure effective scheduling and deployment of field service teams for maintenance, turnaround, and emergency repairs.
Enforce adherence to mechanical design codes and fabrication standards such as ASME, API, AWS, and relevant power plant regulations.
Lead the development and implementation of quality control processes, NDT inspections, and welding certifications.
Review and approve technical documentation, procedures, and fabrication plans.
Champion a culture of safety by implementing rigorous safety programs, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations across fabrication and field operations.
Conduct regular audits and lead safety workshops to maintain a high safety performance.
Build and mentor a high-performing leadership team within fabrication and field service departments.
Promote skills development, certification programs, and succession planning.
Foster collaboration across engineering, operations, procurement, and project management functions.
Liaise with senior management, clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials and services.
Represent the company in industry forums and technical committees.

Education:

15–20+ years of extensive experience in mechanical fabrication, field services, and maintenance within power plant or heavy industrial sectors
Proven track record in senior leadership roles managing large teams and complex fabrication projects
Strong background in ASME, API, AWS standards, and power plant mechanical systems
