Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior Chassis Systems Engineer supports the design, development, and validation of vehicle chassis systems such as suspension, steering, braking, and subframe structures. This entry-level role involves assisting senior engineers in CAD modeling, system integration, component testing, and documentation throughout the product development cycle. The role is ideal for recent engineering graduates or candidates with 0–2 years of relevant experience looking to build a career in automotive chassis engineering.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and 3D modeling of chassis components and assemblies using CAD tools.

  • Support the preparation of engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and engineering change documents.

  • Contribute to vehicle packaging studies and help ensure proper integration of chassis components.

  • Participate in supplier technical discussions and support sourcing activities with engineering input.

  • Assist in the development of Design Verification Plans (DVP) and validation test execution.

  • Support test data collection, basic analysis, and documentation for design validation.

  • Conduct benchmarking of competitor chassis components and technologies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including vehicle dynamics, CAE, manufacturing, and quality.


Key Focus Areas:

  • CAD Design and Drafting of Chassis Parts
    (Control arms, knuckles, bushings, springs, dampers, subframes)

  • Support for Vehicle Packaging and Integration
    (Suspension and steering layout within vehicle constraints)

  • Basic Load Path Understanding and Design Intent
    (Learn fundamentals of load management and chassis function)

  • Support in Testing and Validation
    (Assist with test setup, measurements, and reporting)

  • Documentation and Data Management
    (BOM creation, drawing revisions, test logs)

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Learning
    (Exposure to dynamics, NVH, manufacturing feedback)


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

  • 0–2 years of experience in vehicle or component engineering (internship experience preferred).

  • Familiarity with CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, or similar).

  • Basic knowledge of chassis systems (suspension, steering, braking).

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a team environment.


Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to vehicle testing or component-level test environments.

  • Understanding of GD&T and drafting standards.

  • Interest in automotive dynamics and mechanical systems integration.
