The Capital Projects Manager – HVAC Upgrades & Retrofits is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing capital improvement projects involving HVAC systems within a power plant. This role ensures timely delivery of HVAC retrofits, replacements, and energy-efficiency upgrades in line with plant requirements, safety standards, and budget constraints. The manager leads cross-functional teams, coordinates with engineering consultants and contractors, and ensures project compliance from design to commissioning.
Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of HVAC retrofit and upgrade projects as part of the plant’s capital investment strategy.
Define project scope, timelines, resources, and deliverables for HVAC system modernization and capacity expansion.
Ensure projects align with operational, regulatory, and sustainability goals.
Review and approve HVAC system designs, layouts, and specifications prepared by internal teams or external consultants.
Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, and applicable codes and standards.
Provide technical input during the selection of HVAC equipment and system configurations.
Oversee on-site installation, retrofit, or replacement works for HVAC equipment such as chillers, air handling units, ducting, controls, and piping.
Coordinate system integration, testing, and commissioning.
Ensure that all work meets safety, quality, and environmental compliance standards.
Collaborate with maintenance, operations, procurement, and safety teams to support seamless project execution.
Manage external contractors and consultants, ensuring timely deliverables and adherence to specifications.
Conduct regular project meetings, progress reviews, and risk assessments.
Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and generate cost forecasts.
Prepare technical reports, procurement documentation, and post-project evaluations.
Ensure all capital project documentation is complete and archived per regulatory and internal requirements.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or Project Management (preferred: PMP certification)
Experience:
8+ years of experience in HVAC system design, installation, or retrofit project management
Experience managing capital projects in industrial or power plant environments
Skills:
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, retrofit methodologies, and energy-efficient solutions
Proficiency in project management tools and software
Strong leadership, budgeting, and communication skills
Knowledge of applicable codes (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, etc.)
