The Calibration and Testing Supervisor is responsible for supervising the calibration, verification, and functional testing of process instruments and control devices. This role ensures the accuracy and reliability of instrumentation used in critical operations, while ensuring all activities adhere to quality, safety, and compliance standards. The supervisor leads a team of calibration technicians and supports operations, maintenance, and commissioning teams.
Oversee the calibration of instruments such as pressure, temperature, level, flow, and analytical devices.
Ensure compliance with standards like ISO/IEC 17025, NIST traceability, and client-specific requirements.
Schedule and execute routine, preventive, and corrective calibration tasks.
Supervise testing of transmitters, control valves, switches, sensors, and recorders.
Lead loop checks and logic verification during commissioning or maintenance shutdowns.
Verify proper configuration, range settings, and alarm points.
Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide guidance to calibration personnel.
Ensure proper use of test equipment and adherence to safety and QA/QC procedures.
Conduct training and skills development for team members.
Maintain accurate calibration records, certificates, and equipment logs.
Use CMMS or calibration management systems (e.g., Beamex, ProCal, Fluke) for scheduling and reporting.
Ensure all records meet audit and traceability requirements.
Enforce compliance with industry regulations and internal standards.
Participate in client or third-party audits and inspections.
Support QA/QC teams in validating critical instruments for production or safety systems.
Ensure calibration equipment is certified and in good working condition.
Manage test bench configurations and portable calibration kits.
Coordinate periodic verification and recalibration of master instruments.
Strong technical knowledge of instrumentation and calibration techniques.
Proficiency with calibration tools and communication devices (e.g., HART communicator, multifunction calibrators).
Ability to read P&IDs, loop diagrams, and control system drawings.
Attention to detail and a high standard for quality and compliance.
Team leadership, communication, and time management skills.
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
5–10 years of experience in calibration/testing, with supervisory experience preferred.
Familiarity with industry-specific standards (e.g., ISO 17025, API, IEC).
Hands-on experience in industrial environments (oil & gas, pharma, power, utilities).
Certification in instrumentation QA/QC or metrology is an advantage.
