The Senior Calibration and Testing Supervisor leads all activities related to the calibration, verification, and functional testing of instrumentation and control devices. This role ensures accuracy, traceability, and compliance with quality standards and client specifications. The supervisor oversees a team of calibration technicians and coordinates closely with QA/QC, commissioning, and operations teams to maintain high standards in instrumentation reliability and performance.
Develop and manage the site-wide calibration strategy aligned with industry standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025, NIST, IEC).
Plan and oversee the master calibration schedule for critical instruments and control loops.
Ensure calibration intervals and tolerances meet operational and regulatory requirements.
Supervise senior and junior calibration technicians, ensuring quality, safety, and timely execution.
Provide expert guidance for complex calibrations, including multivariable transmitters, safety devices, and analytical instruments.
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of out-of-tolerance instruments or failed tests.
Ensure all calibration work is traceable and documented in accordance with regulatory, client, or industry requirements.
Prepare for and participate in audits, client inspections, and compliance reviews.
Manage calibration records, certificates, and documentation required for regulatory submissions or handovers.
Oversee functional testing and loop checks for instruments used in control, safety, and custody transfer systems.
Support commissioning teams by validating instrument performance during start-up and FAT/SAT activities.
Verify calibration of Safety Instrumented System (SIS) components in accordance with SIL standards.
Ensure all calibration equipment is certified, up-to-date, and functioning accurately.
Oversee calibration software systems (e.g., Beamex, ProCalV5, Fluke MET/TEAM) for scheduling and reporting.
Ensure data integrity and cyber-compliance in calibration records and backups.
Mentor, coach, and train calibration technicians in advanced calibration techniques, documentation, and safety.
Enforce safe work practices, including permit-to-work, LOTO, confined space, and hazardous area protocols.
Promote continuous improvement and technical development in calibration processes.
Expert knowledge of calibration practices for pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical, and control instruments.
Strong understanding of standards (ISO 17025, IEC 61511, API RP 551/552) and traceability requirements.
Advanced troubleshooting and instrumentation fault analysis skills.
Proficient in using calibration and simulation tools, HART/Fieldbus communicators, and documentation software.
Leadership and team management capabilities with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, or Control Engineering.
10+ years of relevant experience in calibration and testing, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership/supervisory capacity.
Field experience in complex process facilities (e.g., oil & gas, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, power plants).
Certification in metrology, instrumentation QA/QC, or functional safety (e.g., TÜV, SIL) is a strong advantage.
Familiarity with CMMS systems and electronic calibration software is required.
